Before my group presented to the 4th grade class so many thoughts ran through my mind - I was nervous, anxious, and honestly, I was not even sure that I was prepared for what was to come! Business is not a topic I have much expertise in, so I was pretty much learning the information, and I was responsible for teaching this to student. Not a very easy task, let my tell you! Because my group was the first to present, we had tons of pressure on us to set a good example for the next group to present. We had to set the foundation for the rest of the sessions.
Well, we introduced some of the fundamental vocabulary of business; such as, business, revenue, expense, and profit. We had to make sure the 4th graders had a strong understanding of this vocabulary because they would be implementing these words for all the other lessons. The students showed great comprehension, and they would even use their own words to define the words.
They had so much information to share about businesses; I would say they are quite the little entrepreneurs! The answers they were coming up with were pretty impressive For example, one student knew that sometimes they use green-screens in movies. They are enthralled to have the opportunity to create their own businesses and movies! The students were so excited about gaining "money" if they did the assignment that was due the following class. Let's see how the next lesson goes!
